Moodle Quiz

Posted June 8th, 2011 at 2:37 pm.

The Quiz is a great assessment tool provided by Moodle that can be used to test and evaluate students online. All of the results and grades will be recorded automatically into the course Gradebook, making it a very easy and versatile activity to use.

  1. Select Quiz from the Add an activity or resource menu on the Moodle course page in the topic box where you wish the quiz to appear.
  2. Give the quiz a name and add any important instructions to the Description box
  3. Select whether or not to set dates to open or close the quiz as well as a time limit if you choose to use one.
  4. Set the Grade settings including how many attempts are allowed and what grading method is used (e.g Highest Grade, Last Attempt, Average, etc.).
  5. Choose whether or not the questions are shuffled randomly as well as how many questions to display per page.
  6. Set the Review Options and decide what what can be seen immediately after a student takes the quiz, after they take the quiz but while it is still open, and when the quiz is closed. If you’re not sure what to choose, click on the grey question mark icon for more information.
  7. If you want to require a password for the quiz or have browser security that would prevent students from opening other webpages while the quiz is running, you can set these in the Extra restrictions on attempts section.

When you have made all of the settings you want for the quiz, click the Save and return to course button when finished (or Save and display if you’d like to immediately view the quiz).
