Copy Content from Another Moodle Course: Sharing Cart

Posted January 23rd, 2014 at 4:27 pm.

The Sharing Cart block is now in every course in Moodle for you to use. This block makes it easy for faculty to copy individual content from one course to another, or creating duplicates of an item within the same course. To add the Sharing Cart to your course, click on “Add a block…” in the lower left-hand side of your course page and select Sharing Cart from the drop-down menu.

How to use the Sharing Cart:

1. Click on the “Edit” button located on the right of the object you wish to copy to your Sharing Cart.

2. Once it’s there, click on the icon with the arrow pointing down to the right of the object in the Sharing Cart to copy it back to the same course and/or another course you teach. Clicking on this box allows you to copy that item to the course while keeping the original intact.

3. Once you click on the blue box, it will show dotted boxes in your course page.  Click on any of the dotted grey boxes to insert the item into the course.

Note: In order to see the Sharing Cart, you must have editing turned on. The Sharing Cart is unique to each user — while all instructors can see the Sharing Cart block, they can only see the contents within their own Sharing Cart.
