Financial Aid content in Drupal

Posted June 5th, 2014 at 3:46 pm.

Financial Aid content is constructed using two content types: Aid (for types of financial aid) and Policy (for policies regarding financial aid), which are embedded in pages for the appropriate audiences.

Aid

Adding:

Go to Content->Add Content->Aid

Complete the required fields. Be sure your title is specific enough to find it in the list of Aid items later, and to help viewers find it on pages.

Select the appropriate audiences:

  • First Year
  • GSAS
  • GSSWSR
  • International (Non US Citizens and US Non Permanent Residents)
  • McBride
  • Postbac
  • Returning (continuing undergraduate students)
  • Transfer

Select the appropriate type:

  • Grant
  • Loan
  • Work

Save your aid item.

Editing:

  • Go to Content and filter by type=”Aid”
  • Find the title of the item you want to edit, and click Edit.

Policy

Adding:

Go to Content->Add Content->Policy

Complete the required fields. Be sure your title is specific enough to find it in the list of Policy items later, and to help viewers find it on pages.

Select the appropriate audiences:

  • First Year
  • GSAS
  • GSSWSR
  • International (Non US Citizens and US Non Permanent Residents)
  • McBride
  • Postbac
  • Returning (continuing undergraduate students)
  • Transfer

Select the appropriate type:

  • Billing
  • Eligibility
  • Payment
  • Refunds

Save your policy item.

Editing:

  • Go to Content and filter by type=”Policy”
  • Find the title of the item you want to edit, and click edit.

Displaying Aid and Policy Content:

Aid and Policy content is displayed in embedded views on landing pages within the Financial Aid section.

To add a page with embedded financial aid content:

  • Create a page. Our example is the  Types of Aid for First Years page.
  • Go to Embedded Content
  • In the first available Embedded View box, select “Aid- Policy Contextual by Audience and Type” if it’s policy content (for Aid content, select “Aid- Aid Contextual by Audience and Type”).
  • Then add your arguments (refer to the lists above).
  • Our Audience is first year students, so we type “first-year” with a dash replacing the space, then use a comma to separate the arguments for Audience and Type. Do not put a space after the comma.
  • Our Types are Billing, Payment, and Refunds, so we type “billing+payment+refunds”
  • The full argument looks like this: “first-year,billing+payment+refunds”.

aid_arguments

To see what Aid or Policy content is displayed on an existing page:

Edit the page and go to Embedded Content to view the arguments.

Linking to individual Aid or Policy items:

  • Go to Content and filter by type=”Policy” or type=”Aid”, or search for the title of your item.
  • Click on the title of your item to go directly to the individual node.
  • Copy the link from the address bar to send a link to someone.
