Installing Read&Write Literacy Software

Read&Write software is free for current community members to download and install on any College- or personally-owned computer or tablet. To install Read&Write:

Windows or Mac desktop

Download the installer from http://www.brynmawr.edu/computing/software/. When prompted for an access or activation code, hit OK (no code is required).

Android tablet

1. Visit http://www.brynmawr.edu/computing/secure/RWActivate.htm to copy the serial number required in step 9. Please note you must be on campus to access this page.

2. Install TextHelp’s Read&Write application to an Android device through the Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.texthelp.readwriteforandroid

3. Once the application is downloaded, it will prompt you to go through the Setup Wizard, which is required to start using the software. After you download and open the app, you are immediately greeted with the setup assistant. Tap Start Setup Wizard.

4. Now you will be asked to install the Read&Write keyboard. Tap Enable Keyboard.

5. Next, you are prompted with an Android warning about the Read&Write keyboard recording keystrokes. This is a standard warning for any keyboards that you install. Tap outside of this warning window and then tap the slider next to the Read&Write Keyboard to enable it.

6. You need to make the Read&Write keyboard the default keyboard if you want to utilize its features. Tap Make Default.

7. Tap the Read&Write English keyboard and then press Choose Keyboard.

8. Tap Yes I am an existing Read&Write customer. Then tap Next Step.

9. Enter the serial number posted here from step 1, then press the green and white arrow button.

10. You will then be brought to the general settings. Towards the bottom of the window, you should see that Read&Write is fully activated.

iOS tablet

1. Visit http://www.brynmawr.edu/computing/secure/RWActivate.htm to copy the serial number required in step 7. Please note you must be on campus to access this page.

2. Install TextHelp’s Read&Write application to an iOS device through the iTunes Store: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/read-write-for-ipad/id934749270?mt=8.

3. Once the application is downloaded and you open it for the first time, you are immediately greeted with the Setup Wizard.

4. Now you will be asked to install the Read&Write keyboard. Tap Next Step.

5. Go into Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard > Tap Read&Write.

7. Enter the serial number from step 1, then tap the green and white arrow.

8. Upon successful activation, it will bring you to the main settings screen. At the bottom of the window, it should say that the serial number has been linked.
