Many of the MS Online Learning courses contain a lab component, requiring users to download and utilize practice files to accomplish outlined tasks directly in the application. Instructions for downloading and extracting the practice files are below. The instructions below are for college-issued Windows 7 PCs using Microsoft Internet Explorer. Some features may not function correctly when using other browsers (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, and Safari), OS X, or non-college-issued Windows 7 PCs.
1. Click on the Lab Information tab under Course Overview in the Contents panel on the left side of the screen
2. Click on the Click to download practice files required to complete the local labs link to download the zipped practice files
3. A prompt will appear at the bottom of the Internet Explorer window asking if you’d like to open or save the files. Click on the arrow next to the Save button to reveal the drop-down menu
4. Click on Save As
5. Select a location for the zipped files that is easy to remember (e.g. Documents, Desktop, Downloads, etc.)
6. Click the Save button
7. A prompt will appear at the bottom of the Internet Explorer window stating the download has completed. Click on the Open button
8. This will open the folder in 7-zip, an open-source file archiver installed on all College-issued Windows 7 PCs.
Note: If you’re using a non-College issued Windows 7 PC, the instructions for unzipping the downloaded files may differ.
9. Select the folder by clicking on it, then click on the Extract button
10. At the Copy window, click on the OK button
11. You will now be able to access the practice files in the location you saved them
